- Applicant must be a resident in the county in
which they are applying for a card. Children under age 14 must have
a parent's/guardian's signature.
- To be considered a resident, you must either pay
taxes in the county in which you are applying for a library card OR
have lived in the county for a minimum of 3 months.
- If you do not meet these requirements, or are
just visiting the area, the library can issue you a "Temporary"
card. You will need to fill out an application and leave a deposit
for the materials that you borrow. Fees for Temporary Patrons are as
follows:
$25 -- Limit: 10 items
$10 is NON-refundable -- $15 is refundable upon return of ALL items
& borrower's library card.
The refundable part of your deposit will be returned to you when
either:
(1) the residency requirements have been met and all materials have
been
returned in good order (at which time a permanent card will be
issued if you so desire.)
OR
(2) if you are a visitor to the area, the refundable part of your
deposit will
be returned when you leave, provided all materials and the library
card are returned in good order.
- Your library card is valid at each branch library
in the Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Regional Library System.
- If you meet the eligibility requirements, there
is no charge for your first card. There is, however, a $5.00 fee to
replace first time lost before expiration date on the card. Cost to
replace after first time is left to the discretion of the local
library staff.
- All other fines and fees also apply to Temporary
Patrons
