Special Collections:
The Spruce Pine Public Library is home to two
special collections which the public is invited to view and
enjoy.
Spruce Pine is home to the Mineral & Gem Festival held each
July. The Spruce Pine Public Library is fortunate to have
received a mineral display which was donated by Paul Rhymer of
Spruce Pine and is an excellent sample of the minerals & gems
that are found locally and in other parts of Western North
Carolina.
The beautiful basket collection was given to the library by
Jean Taylor, who taught basketry. Many of the baskets on
display were made by Mrs. Taylor herself and all are wonderful
examples of the art of basket making from around the world. |
