GET A LIBRARY CARD

A library card means access to whatever you’re looking for, and getting a library card is easy—and it’s FREE! Please visit any AMY Library location to fill out an application.

Your library card entitles you to borrow materials from any library within the Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Regional Library System. You may also request materials from any Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Library at the circulation desk, by phone, or online, and have them delivered to the library of your choice. Materials may also be returned to any AMY Library.

How do you get a library card?

  • You must be a resident in the county in which you are applying for a card. Children under age 14 must have a parent’s/guardian’s signature.
  • To be considered a resident, you must either reside, attend school, work, and/or pay taxes in Avery, Mitchell, or Yancey County.
  • Must have a current, valid ID with name, photo, and address.

Non-residents may receive borrowing privileges for themselves and their immediate family members by purchasing a non-resident card. The annual fee for a non-resident card is $10, with a limit of (5) items checked out at one time.

You’ve lost your card? Cost is $2 to replace your card.
